The industry is investing heavily in measures to reduce production cost and increase efficiency.
Paragon’s XNN® technology improves efficiency by up to 50% and at the same time allows a reduction from 2/3 to 1/2 in the number of power transistors, which are the most expensive components in the PA.. This allows a reduction in parts count, volume and costs per watt, as well as power supply and cooling costs. In addition, service providers can benefit from increasing the number of subscribers that “Paragon-enabled” base station can support. They can also prevent power loss by placing the amplifiers on top of the base station tower, due to the highly efficient nature of the transmission allowed by Paragon’s technology. XNN® has been licensed to Samsung Electronics and two other PA manufacturers.
The core technology, which is simple to implement, is complementary to linearization technologies such as Digital Pre-Distortion, Feed Forward and crest factor reduction creates additive benefits and is potentially a future de-facto standard.
